Google's record has not been very good in keeping the messaging services updated, but the search engine company is active during the lockdown. Google has given a big update to its popular meeting software and is working on improving its platform for users doing work-from-home. Talking about the latest updates, now 16 people will appear in a video call on Google Meet.

Google's Vice President Javier Soltero told news agency Reuters that Google's video meeting service Google Meet (previously Hangout Meet) will now be able to simultaneously appear in the 16 participants grid. In this way, the layout of the popular video conferencing platform Zoom will be seen on Google Meet as well. Earlier, only four people appeared in the grid on the screen during a call in Google Meet.

Here the participants appearing on the screen during the call are not being connected in the call. Even though four users have been appearing in the grid on the screen, Google Meet Service supports up to 250 users in one call for G Suite Enterprise users. The same, a call on G Suite Basic can involve 100 users and 150 users in G Suite for Business can be part of the call. However, Zoom is still ahead as 49 people can appear on the grid together.

Also, Google users will now be able to receive meet calls directly from Gmail, a feature which was not available in the previous hangout. Google is trying to replace platforms such as Zoom, which have come in the headlines recently for their privacy. Google is working on better solutions and Google Meet is its fastest growing service, with daily usage increasing by 25 percent between January and March this year.
